Pugs and Pacemakers

It's amazing what we can do for our pets now a days. The following story is about a pug with a failing heart. Dr. Spier (cardiologist at FVS) gave the owner two choices; take him home and let him live out the rest of his life, which might not be very long, or they could get a pacemaker put in him. They chose the pacemaker! Click here for the video clip of this story.

On another note of saving doggie lives. Oliver was not able to donate blood last Saturday. He has bad veins! Not a real big shocker for Bulldogs though. They are well known to have the worst veins to get blood or start an IV on. It was a good effort on his part though.

On a funny note, take a good look at this guy. Notice anything particularly odd? He's wearing ski goggles!! Are there really that many bugs in Florida that he needs ski goggles to ride with the top down?

Oliver Gets a Nail Trim

Even though Oliver is a big tough Bulldog he rolls right over for his nail trims. The pugs are not as cooperative. They require numerous treats to keep them from running away. All this training with Oliver has made him a perfect candidate for blood donation. Yes, even dogs can donate their blood for a worthy cause. We go in on Saturday for his first blood draw. I'll let you know how it goes.

Eating apples.

The pugs love eating apples. They sit in the kitchen while I am cutting them up and hope to get a small piece.

Do you think the apples are safe? I'm sure Winston is thinking about how he can distract me and grab one for himself.

Always the photographer...

Michael is always the one taking the photos, he's never in any of the pictures he brings home. Finally someone was kind enough to take some photos of Michael. Check out those legs! :-)

Oliver vs the Bed

Poor Oliver, he needs a bed his size. This is the pug's bed. All three pugs can get in it, but only one Oliver. Actually only 1/2 of an Oliver. I think his butt is hanging out the back.

It's Christmas Time

Winter break is finally hear and I have 3 weeks off till school starts up again. With extra time on my hands I've been able to clean the house again and decorate for Christmas. December 15th was Michael & I's 6th anniversary! So to celebrate we went to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Walt Disney World in Orlando. It was a wonderful time except for the fact that it was warm and muggy out that night. It sure didn't feel much like Christmas. Tonight though we have a cold front that has come in... It's going to get down to a cool 38 degrees. Finally some winter weather for us. It's been so hot this year.

Cinderella's Castle has icicles this year.

The parade was wonderful, made me think of being back at Disney when I was much younger.

With the cool weather tonight I got in the mood to finish up my Christmas decorating. I've been collecting the Dicken's Christmas Villages from Department 56 for several years now. I only put up a small part of my collection this year. Here is a sample of what it looks like.

And then of course.... here is the tree. Funny thing is last week I found one of the lights from the tree torn off and laying on the carpet. Which dog was it?! I guess I'll never know, no one is talking.
